
According to the Agriculture Knowledge Center, the district has a demand of 17,680 metric tonnes of urea, 9,179 metric tonnes of DAP, and 3,809 metric tonnes of potash fertilizer. According to the office, the demand was made by seven municipalities of the district last year. Agriculture Extension Officer Suruchi Tripathi informed that the process of sending the demand to the municipality is going on this year. Last year, Bharatpur Metropolitan City required 5,000 metric tonnes of urea, 2,000 metric tonnes of DAP, and 500 metric tonnes of potash. Similarly, Ratnanagar Municipality had demanded 1,932 metric tonnes of urea, 1,238 metric tonnes of DAP, and 1,091 metric tonnes of potash, while Rapti Municipality had demanded 3,500 metric tonnes of urea, 2,000 metric tonnes of DAP and 176 metric tonnes of potash fertilizer.
The Kalika municipality has demanded 1,515 metric tonnes of urea, 772 metric tonnes of DAP, and 1,060 metric tonnes of potash, while the Madi municipality has demanded 2,870 metric tonnes of urea, 1,625 metric tonnes of DAP, and 150 potash fertilizers, Tripathi said. According to him, Khairhani municipality had demanded 2,783 metric tonnes of urea, 1,498 metric tonnes of DAP and 806 metric tonnes of potash and Ichchakamana had demanded 80 metric tonnes of urea, 46 metric tonnes of DAP, and 26 metric tonnes of potash. Stating that the municipality is in the process of sending the demand data, the chief of the center, Bagal, estimated that the demand may increase this year. He said that the demand for fertilizer may increase due to the policy taken by the local municipality not to keep the cultivable land barren.
